Three Reasons to Read
1. Improves brain function
Research is available to support the notion that reading provides positive benefits to the brain. Not only does reading create more awareness and stimulate the brain to stay focused and clear, it also has many long-term health benefits, including helping to prevent dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. When you read, you keep your brain active, and similar to how exercising the body keeps your body flexible and active, reading does the same for your brain.

2. Reduces stress
As mentioned briefly above, reading can help reduce any stress you may have, whether that stress was created by having stressful thoughts on the mind, or even physical stress on the body. Some scholars suggest that reading can provide the same stress relief, if not more, than when doing physical activity. So, grab your favourite book and start reading now!

3. Improves focus and concentration
The world is such a busy place today, and our minds are programmed to multi-task at full speed, whether it be checking emails while on the bus, or texting friends while at work, or even making dinner while listening to music or having a conversation with a spouse or friend. When you multi-task, your mind can become unclear and unfocused, even if you don't think this is the case. But when you read, you are focused on what you are reading in order to absorb and understand the information or story you are reading. and thus your concentration and focus are significantly improved.
